What Gear Slots Can I Change On My Character?
Character Appearance
You can make changes to equipped gear and gear appearance on your first day at Hogwarts, just after completing the introduction sequence of Hogwarts Legacy "Welcome To Hogwarts" and receiving your Field Guide and access to the Gear screen.

- Facewear
- Handwear
- Neckwear
- Cloaks And Robes
- Outfit
Wand Handles
You can change the equipped gear and appearance of Wand Handles after gathering supplies on your first trip to Hogsmeade and completing the quest "Welcome To Hogsmeade".
Brooms
You can change the equipped gear and appearance of Brooms just after completing the Broom Flight basics class quest "Flying Class" with Professor Kogawa.
Flying Mounts
You can change the equipped gear and appearance of flying mounts after the seasonal change to Fall and completion of the quest "The High Keep" where you obtain the Hippogriff mount Highwing.
What Are The Steps For Changing The Cosmetic Appearance Of Equipped Gear?
You can change the appearance of equipped gear through the steps below:
- Open the Pause Menu
- Select [Gear]
- Hover the cursor over the gear slot for that gear you wish to change and select the button assigned to [Change Appearance].
- For PlayStation players, this is the Square button.
- For Xbox players, this is the X button.
- For Switch players, this is the Y button.
- For PC, the keyboard input is the F key.
- Select the appearance you wish to equip. You can repeat this process for changing the appearance of other gear you obtain throughout the game.
