Due to changes to both data serialization and upgrades to our Raytracing features in the Hogwarts Legacy engine, level code changes were made that will break all 3rd Party MODs that use skeletal mesh assets made before the latest patch.
This is mentioned in the most recent patch notes: Hogwarts Legacy Patch Notes - 01/30/2025 (PC Version).
If you've utilized 3rd party or unofficial MODs (Nexus Mods) and cannot launch Hogwarts Legacy, we suggest completely removing any and all locally installed MODs that fall under the category of a "Visual" MOD (a MOD that changes the character's appearance in some way/involves animation. Appearance, clothing, wands, brooms, facial presets, and mount MODs fall under this category and may be impacted). Then, verifying or reinstalling the game through Steam or Epic Games Store. To find these MODs they will typically be in the folder named ~mods
.
We also suggest uninstalling any Mod Manager programs, as these may cause issues.
